Review of Class A and Class B CSC Benefits

Request a Review of Your CSC Invalidity Classification

If you have been assessed as Class A or Class B by the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC), your classification may be reviewed if your circumstances have changed.

A review allows CSC to reassess your level of incapacity and determine whether your classification still reflects your current situation.

Understanding The Process

  • A review may be considered where there has been a relevant change since your original assessment.

    This can include:

    • Changes in your medical condition (improvement or deterioration)

    • Changes in your ability to work

    • New employment in a role not previously considered

    • Additional qualifications or training

    • Updated medical evidence

Even if your condition remains the same, changes in your overall capacity for work may affect your classification.

  • Reviews are only available for members who were initially classified as:

    • Class A, or

    • Class B

If you were classified as Class C, you are not eligible to request a review through CSC.

  • CSC will reassess your situation based on updated information, including:

    • Your current medical condition

    • Your ability to perform suitable civilian work

    • Your employment history since your original classification

    • Any new qualifications or training

    • Updated medical or specialist reports

The goal is to determine whether your current classification still reflects your level of incapacity.

  • Following a review, your classification may:

    • Remain the same

    • Be increased (for example, from Class B to Class A)

    • Be reduced, depending on your current capacity

Each case is assessed based on the evidence provided.
